High Mournes Scenic route

Having hunted for cafes for the last 6 weeks we found a brilliant one today on the top of a long hill. Local farmers diversifying had made a very good job using the fabulous views and brewing a good coffee. Onward and upward we cycled through the mountains and over to the silent valley, Belfast’s water reservoir and country park. We could see the Mourne wall, a 35 mile dry stone wall which to 18 years to finish. All dry stone walls are not the same!!

Followed the mourne mountains down to Newcastle sands where the puncture blight returned. Ice cream was the reward for the interruption.

Finishing the 28 miles route we returned to the park where Misty was waiting for her walk. Not sure she enjoyed the stepping stones as she needed to be enticed across but the bridges and follies were great.
