Border.. what Border??
A castle on a crannog. Had to hunt to find it but Castle Clough Oughter is a ruined circular castle on a small island on lough oughter. The only other people we saw were camping fishermen and some crazy cat people from Germany who had 4 cats in their little old motorhome walking them on leads.
Time to leave so we headed through Monaghan and back into Northern Ireland following St Patrick’s trail!!!
Murlough sand dunes, reputably 6000 year old, the oldest in europe 😉, ireland certainly has the biggest, oldest. Best of everything…. Misty certainly loved the beach and the trails through the sand dunes were varied and full of wild flowers. The locals are very passionate about the area as were we as the clouds lifted showing the top of the Mourne mountains and their journey down to the sea at Newcastle.
Our campsite tonight is Tollymore forest park which is beautiful as we sat drinking our glass of wine in the evening sunshine.
