Holy Water and Psalms

It took a lot longer than expected to get to Dursey Island. The road was twistier and narrower than anticipated. Fortunately not much traffic.

The cable car to Dursey Island is the only one in Ireland and rides 250m above the Atlantic. It was big tin box on wires max capacity 6 people that only took 10mins so even Misty did not mind. We were pleased it was not to windy as it tended to swing about a bit even with 6 people in it. Dursey Island is only 6.5km long and walked to the end and back again. We had to stick to the track as the high path is on the beara way and dogs are strictly forbidden. We heard stories of dogs being shot and killing themselves by jumping off cliffs lured by sheep with stupid owners looking on.

We missed nothing though and the wall was peaceful and beautiful passing derelict houses as there are now only 3 full time residents on the island.

They did not want us to leave they liked is so much so we had to queue for an hour in the only reason squall of the day to get off. And just to put the tin hat on it the ice cream van was shut.

We didn’t need the holy water or psalm 91, both hung up in the cable car…….or did we 😉😉😉
