Nearly didn’t stop in Chartres but very pleased we did. The cathedral was magnificent as they always are, always overlooking the villages. One unusual aspect was the 15th Century astronomical clock which was opposite stained glass windows depicting the zodiac signs. We did our usual and found all the little cobbled alley ways and hidden parts including 2 brilliant exhibitions housed in old buildings and a very pretty river running through the medieval streets. Even the ice cream was classic. Would recommend everyone visits, we loved it.
