Nuits-St-Georges, the holy grail for many a wine lover, so what choice did we have? Every other house and shop was a wine tasting venue but we think we chose the best place. L’imaginarium was a contemporary tour and tasting venue. We chose the full tour which included an excellent English spoken 3 room history of wine making in the region, a tasting of 5 premier wines, and a museum. The commentary in English was informative, funny and had some ridiculous English accents which made it even better. They even had a wine bottle dryer just like the one we bought in a charity shop and is now in our garden as a bottle sculpture. We think we learned a lot more about wine making here than we would have in some of the smaller places. It reinforced our views that supermarket wines are just as good although the wines we tasted were very nice. We spent 2 1/2 hours here and had not realised there had been a thunderstorm outside although walking in warm rain, under a brolly, is quite pleasant. We had a final wander around Nuits-St-Georges, finally noticing that the ‘ tour de france’ had passed this way ( how could we have missed that !!!) before the rain started again and we headed back to the chateau .
