Kissing under the Mistletoe

Said farewell to La Gacilly and headed back through the “amazonian” jungle to civilization. We entered our first lock on the Nantes Breast canal at 11am and passed through our last lock before Malestroit at 5.30pm. Locks were the adventure of the day, all 6 of them. Some very deep, some very easy, one we had to queue for but all good fun. The lock keepers were brilliant, really helpful showing us what to do and their houses and gardens were beautiful.  One small reminder to ourselves locks shut from 12.30 to 1.30 which today meant we had to make an unscheduled lunch stop. People on the boats very friendly,  one German family we see every day as our itineraries seem to cross.

Passed a weed clearing machine, the cut weeds then attached to our propeller!!

Amazing day. We’ve seen herons, dragon flys, brilliant blue butterflies,  a kingfisher, trees full of mistletoe, and even an otter.
