Not even mentioning the overnight wedding party which finished at 6am we awoke to a bright sunny day although our bedroom lights weren’t working. An engineer from le boat came and tried to fix them but to no avail.
We left our mooring and traveled down stream accompanied by many beautiful dragonfly. By chance our first stop, Brain sur Vilaine was delightful. After Barbara fell off the boat while mooring, and was helped by a French man, we wandered into the village, to discover a wee local market and sculpture trail. We bought lettuce, tomatoes, cucumber, radish and basil all home grown. We then ventured onto the sculpture trail. A wee discussion with a local sculpture set us on our way. Such a small beautiful village but what an epic place. Renowned French sculpters showed off amazing talent.
Back to the boat, and on to Redon, a nerve wracking passage through an automatic lock led us onto the Nantes Brest canal. After coffee and another massive mooring leap from Barbara, we headed up the Aff River to La Gacilly. This small river was in actual fact like an adventure up the amazon, and quite the adventure. We moored with help from some friendly Welsh people and are going g to explore the village tomorrow, Yves Rocher and all.
