Broken Clouds, 22°C
one step at a timeNot quite at the front of the queue but almost. Kitted out and ready to go. Eeeekk!!! It was a 15min walk down a steep windy path to the bottom of the gorge. The first bridge safety person tied us on and said go, so we did, straight out across the gorge. This first bridge was very wobbly but they did say that if we made this one we would be fine and we were😊😊😊😊😊. The second bridge, which was actually joined onto the first, went straight up the gorge for 470m. It was amazing, rushing water below is, rising cliffs above us and high tensile steel beneath our feet. We were now actually looking around us and not just at our feet and starting to enjoy ourselves.
We had a choice at the end of the second bridge either go up a little path to the final bridge or take a sheer cliff face via ferrata, the second safety person said we did not have to do it but guess what? We wanted to!!! It was a strenuous climb even with the help of the metal rungs and the wire we were attached to and when we got to the top we knew we had worked hard.
Only the final 90m span (90m up) bridge to go which brought the whole exilerating journey to a end.
Misty was really pleased to see us and as we were starving we had lunch, after which we drove to our next campsite (in the shadows of Les alpes d’huez) close to Grenoble passing stunning wild flower meadows, majestic snow called mountains and massive water falls.
