The real sword in the stone, Does it belong to King Arthur our San Galgano Guidotti ? well we saw a sword in a stone, the experts say this sword was put in the stone before the legend of Arthur. We believe there must be two😊😊😊. pS the Abbey was tremendous as well.

Siena was a bit of a surprise. We walked through little streets and then woo-hoo were confronted with massive cathedrals and piazzas. The Duomo (cathedral) was absolutely fantastic. But the Piazza Del Campo held a surprise. People just kept arriving and arriving and arriving and it was soon packed to the hilt. We had no idea what was going on .The pre- ritual of IL palio (the famous horse race around the piazza) was happening (we had to ask the waiter ) drums drumming, flags waving, people chanting and trumpets sounding all heralding which horse was to run in the race on 2nd July. Seems we had dropped in lucky and were able to watch it all.

Calming, watching all the people disperse over spaghetti and wine. Not forgetting the scrumptious desserts.

PS Helped 3 eroica cyclists (yesterdays post)  mend a puncture this morning 😊😊
