A message through the ages

After walking through the splendid streets of Assisi and going Inside some of the sacred places with their fabulously painted interiors we went through a door in the wall of the square in front of the Basilica Superiore of Saint Francis of Assisi. We walked down a leafy path and rang the peace bell of Assisi which unifies the four major religions of the world.

Further on down the steep winding path through the colours of the woodlands, flora, and olive trees, with views back to the basilica, we came across the perfect lunch stop. Il Mulino, a restaurant with a pretty terrace where we ate sweet and sour wild boar and drank a glass of wine.

Our walk continued along the river past man made water falls ( which misty loved) to Terzo Paradiso . An extraordinary piece of land art, which you are encouraged to walk through and think.

The message from St. Francis (San Francesco in Italian) is obvious , that of perfect harmony between man and creation (we like him) and we did indeed reflect on the responsibility that each one of us has to create a better world for ourselves and future generations.

We found the other side of Assisi.
