Another Town Another Tower
The intention was to stroll around Zadar for a couple of hours taking in the main sights. However the sun was shining and we spied a bell tower. 180 steps and 59m later we standing at the top above the bells. A lot easier climb this time but every town should have a bell tower because the views from the top were magnificent.
We had to nip back to Max to put more money on, to ensure that we saw the rest of the old town and how they had incorporated the new into the old. We saw Roman pillars, medieval walls, underground excavations and gardens on top of the old bastions where the Judas trees were in full blossom, and even the odd nun.
After coffee, and the now expected gelato we went back to listen to the sea organ again. We had lunch on the walls before we left. We would really recommend a visit to this old town as it has been exceptionally well done.
