Heavens above!

Today we drove up, and up, up, and up, up to 1200m! in search of a saint. The Sanctuary of La Verna is located on mount Penna above Chiusi Della Verna and is where St Frances of Assisi received the mark of the stigmata. A very tranquil place for everybody and fortunately there were not too many everybodies there. Misty was able to visit with us but not into the basilica or other revered places. She enjoyed searching for the jutting out stone (possibly because it was cool and damp) she also found some discarded sandwiches. How it has managed to stay perched on the rock we don’t know.

A panini (cheese toasty) at a cafe next door was good as was the coffee.

From here we went to our next campsite which is in the middle of the country side. A bit more peace and solitude before the madness of a big festival in Gubbio.
