Wonderful Wonderful Copenhagen… Edinburgh

Wonderful Wonderful Copenhagen Edinburgh

We always visit wonderful places on our travels and look in awe at the sights and sounds. Do we ever do that in our home towns? Copenhagen has its famous stories courtesy of, HC himself, Hans Christian Andersen. One in particular is brought to life with the little mermaid sculpture in the harbour which has become an iconic tourist attraction. We went looking today for one of Edinburgh’s famous stories, Greyfriars Bobby. This wee dog statue sits atop a fountain outside Greyfriars kirkyard and is just as iconic to tourists in Edinburgh. Bobby’s master, a local policeman, died and Bobby guarded his grave for 14 years looked after by locals for all that time. When bobby died he was burried close by. Our best friend Misty never leaves our side and wanders wherever we go.

As we do, we get enthralled by local history wherever we are, so we wandered round the kirkyard. There’s also a section of the Flodden wall along with headstones of many famous people eg William Adam the foremost architect of his time in Scotland.

Oh by the way there are no ugly ducklings in Edinburgh, just beautiful swans.
