El Capricho de Gaudi

San Vicente de la Barquera, Cantabria, Spain

After seeing some of Antoni Gaudi’s works in Barcelona we really wanted to see this one as it’s considered to be one of his first works of importance and marks the start of the modernist movement.

In a different way it is as amazing as the Guggenheim museum. A house designed for a specific person as well as making the most of natural light and nature, wood, stone, bricks, ceramic tiles, iron work and glass all feature. As Barbara sat next to Mr Gaudi, looking at his building with him, she told him how much she loved it.

Comillas was well worth a stroll around with cobbled streets and interesting buildings. Of course everything was shut as it was siesta time so we cycled back to Misty for another walk on the beach
