Route des Grands Crus

After saying goodbye to one of the local residents, a red squirrel, we said goodbye to Lyon. We set off towards the Route des Grand Crus.

We have looked for a cafe on the roadside with a car parking space since we arrived, today we found it, perfect, coffee and baguette from the artisanal boulangerie. Next stop was a shady aire to eat our baguette as the day was getting hotter and hotter.

We planned to visit Beaune, and when there went for a lovely stroll around the thick stone ramparts, and of course had the obligatory beer and ice cream. Reputedly Beaunes raison d’etre is wine, making it, ageing it, selling it, but most of all drinking it which we could not do as we were driving.

Next stop our chateau, which is surrounded by vineyards and overlooks Comblanchien. We have a small but beautifully formed appartment within and a small terrace overlooking the vineyards, heaven!
