Lyon is the second largest city in France and is based around 2 rivers. Today we started looking at murals/Street art in the Croix-rousse (Old town) and then crossed the. River Rhone to explore the Parc de la Tete d’or.
It took a long time in finding, which is hard to believe, as the Le Mur de Canults, is the largest mural in Europe. This was first started in 1986 to cover a blank wall and has been updated twice since to reflect changes in lifestyles and urban environment. It is very big and astounding. We saw several other murals on our way back to the river. It would have taken all day to find them all.
To see all of the park would have taken another 2 days. This is because it’s huge, including botanic gardens, a zoo, a large boating lake, various gardens and numerous other small attractions. All for free, except for the beer which was gratefully appreciated because it was very hot.
The trams were still on part time strike but we negotiated this expertly made it safely back to the appartment with a bottle of wine.
