Been chasing damsel and dragon flys all week, and today we caught up with the real thing. Demoiselle in France means young women. We walked to a village called langon today and myth has it that the young women of the village danced in the fields rather than going to church and their punishment was being turned to stone. We saw them and imagined dancing with them. Landgon was a beautiful village especially for an ice cream and beer. It also has a church with 12 spires but even more remarkable was the Chapel of St Agathe one part of which was a tomb dating back to the 4th and 5th century.
We started today with a superb cast off from an awkward mooring . Our favoured lunchtime mooring was full but this was in our favour as we got to se the above mentioned Langon and all its delights.
Today highlighted lots of different users of the river Vilaine…….Horses, fishermen, rowers, walkers and cyclists.
Homeward bound, the last two locks went well, before reaching our final destination marina. Sat drinking a glass of wine, only the boat to clean now.
