Stayed put today to explore Malestroit, a medieval village set on the Oust River. A very pretty small town (of character) very old half timbered houses containing some funny wooden sculptures. Not sure how some are still standing as some 500 year old and some timbers looking woodworm infested!! The brightly coloured paintwork complemented by beautiful flowers, mainly hydrangeas, made a colourful sight. That and the numerous bridges and set on the banks of the river make it an amazing place.
We sat in the Central Square for coffee and wandered the town this morning. This afternoon we walked along the tow path, faster than the boats, in search of the old watermill. This hopefully is going to be restored. Made our way back through the fields and began a quest to find a cake shop. We thoroughly enjoyed the cake.
