Surrealism is weird. Salvador Dali was a genius, a master of Surrealism. We saw his weird today, but we also saw his genius. A great artist and exhibitionist. We loved some, we didn’t like some, we didn’t understand most but did appreciate what a great artist he was.

We arrived in Figueres not expecting to spend so long looking at exhibits of art that in the past had passed us by. Carmel, an ex neighbour of ours, gave us 2 Dali..ish paintings which probably prompted us to go to the Dali museum designed by the man himself in an old theatre. We’ll never look at them the same again.

We’re suckers for a Street artist, and where did we find one? Just outside the Dali museum. A lovely man who made a fuss of us and even wrapped our painting in ribbon.

Where to go to after Figueres, the birth place of Dali?? The only place was Cadaques, where he lived with his wife Gala for many years. Cadaque is a very pretty fishing village, all painted white on the peninsula of Cap de Creus. This is in the far north east of Catalonia 25km south of the French border.
