They are Giants

Wednesday April 2023

Today was going to be a long day travelling from Bustarviego to Naquera, near Valencia. Prior to setting out we decided to go in search of Don Quixote’s giants in La Mancha. La Mancha is a vast plateau in central Spain famous for its windmills, wine, saffron an Manchego Cheese. Don Quixote is a classic novel by Miguel de Cervantes.

The windmills are made famous because Don Quixote thought they were giants. When his servant Sancho Panza said “What giants? What you see over there are windmills and their long arms are the sails turned by the wind.” Don Quixote replied “It seems to me that you aren’t well versed in adventures – they are giants.”

As you know we love adventures therefore the windmills are giants

We also discovered that the high, sunny plains of La Mancha are the world’s largest and oldest, wine growing area. Need to find some and try it😀.

We left Bustarviego at 10am and arrived at our fabulous Gaudi style appartment at around 6pm. A long day indeed.
