Bear meets Bear

Sat 1st April 2023

Coffee calms the nerves when going hunting bears in the mountains, Mirador de Llesba. As you all know Sixty goes everywhere we go and was excited when we told her what we were doing today. However at 1600m in the wind and snow she had mixed feelings and just wanted to snuggle in. The bear was magnificent (Sixty as well), the view even better. We did go for a little walk but it was really cold so we didn’t dilly dally. We sat in Max eating lunch while enjoying the view with him.

After driving so far uphill the only way was down as we set off looking for the lost villages. The new village of Riano was built from the remnants of the 7 villages which were lost to the present reservoir in the mid 1980’s. Some buildings were rebuilt using the original stones and the old bells hung to comemorate the various churches which were submerged/demolished. Besides all that what a beautiful backdrop to a village.

Our return journey was by the same magnificent road stopping occasionally to raise or lower the roof of Max depending on the showers😄😄. Today we started in temperatures of 14° dropping to 4° by the bear at 1600m, and from warm sun to snow showers!
