Fields of Gold

Fields of Gold

Today was one of our better choices. We hadn’t seen many fields of tulips until today and because we were on a guided cycling tour they knew the best spots. The fields were really gold, beautiful colours and a sight to behold. We imagine like many other people we were under the misconception that all the fields would be full of tulips all of the time. But in real life the flower farmers cut off the tulip heads so all of the energy good into the bulbs, which means some empty fields.

We visited a couple of tulip farms who had show gardens whose sole purpose was to sell bulbs. We did pick some favourites and will buy some later.

Sixty finally found a pair of clogs to fit and agrees with us that the coffee and apple pie were great.

We really enjoyed our 3 hour bike tour even though we are generally not found of tours. It was very relaxing, very informative and very colourful.

Had lunch in a cafe recommended by our guides before heading for the ferry. Enjoyed a Guinness on a sunny deck before we left.
