Stairway to Heaven?

Stairway to Heaven?

We needed to go shopping so Pula fresh veg and fish market got us out of bed early. We bought wild asparagus and fresh tuna to go with cheesy pasta we already had.

It’s not often we feel creative but hey let’s go with the flow, so off to the street art town of Vodnjan we went. We wandered tiny old streets looking for the revered Street murals, it was only when we looked behind us and saw a covered gable end that we realised they might be big. After that they jumped out of every tunnel, corner and crevice. Obviously artists come here annually to paint even more walls. W couldn’t get into the church to see the mummies but who wants to see dead people anyway.

We need more sun and a bit highlife so we drove on, top down in the sunshine to Rovinj. Very different, and definitely more touristy but lovely. We did our usual thing and had a sandwich and ice cream followed by wandering the streets, or in this case, once again, little alley ways. On arrival at the top of the hill, there’s always a hill, and after a few sits to sunbathe, we found another bell tower. The church was lovely and we couldn’t understand why the attendent was reluctant to take our money to get to the top. We soon found out… very scary. Numerous flights of very old wooden step ladder like steps up 60m to the top. The view was amazing once the adrenaline allowed us to look. Pleased we did it though even if coming down was worse. A much needed coffee was taken in the sunshine.

Likewise the drive back to Pula was also in the sunshine and we had time to cook our delicious, freshly bought food before going out to see the light show.
