A day of two halves
A fine morning so we decided that Misty needed another outing. We followed the squirrel route (why it was called this we do not know as we didn’t see any kind of squirrel) up and passed the Foyers falls which were very unimpressive with so little water in. We were impressed however by the ultra marathon runners who passed us. We arrived at the top road to coffee and cake as we watched more runners passing by. We couldn’t sit drinking coffee all day (although we did get some good advice about climbing Monroes and the weather up north) so we made a move and headed back down through the forest with more runners passing us. Misty got the smell of Loch Ness and we could not hold her back down hill. All she wanted was a cooling plodge in the water.
After a lunch sat in the sunshine the road beckoned again. We grabbed the bikes and cycled down to Dores. We soon found out why the road was so busy as the runners were finishing in Dores and the top road was closed so extra traffic was following the diversion we were on!. Fortunately we found an ice cream and coffee van to reinvigorate us for the up hill ride back to the van. Good job too as there were a few heavy showers on the way back.
Back at the van Misty was fast asleep just as we had left her.
