Edinburgh old town of course. Whenever we are on our travels we love to explore the local culture. We’ve never had the chance to do this at home because we are always on our travels.
We don’t realise how lucky we are, we live adjacent to Holyrood park which includes Arthur Seat. This means The Palace of Holyrood House is also just next door as is the Scottish Parliament buildings, the Royal Mile and everything else in Edinburgh’s old town. The Queen visits us once for a week every year, Nichola Sturgeon is almost on Speaking terms with us and Mary Queen of Scots had a bath house just around the corner.
The best thing within 500yards of our house is a gelato shop, and its open, serving take away through its side window. This set us up nicely for our 2 hour walk around the old town. Having never done this before we just followed our noses discovering new things around every corner. Who knew Edinburgh had several city walls? And like every other European city has cathedrals, castles, statues and magnificent buildings only noticed when no one else is around.
We eventually found our way home much to the relief of misty. You would think she ‘d know us by now and it is her own fault that she doesn’t like ice cream …phew
We think we will have to explore this fine city further 😄😄
