Our last full day in Spain has been brilliant. We have looked at traditional and contemporary, natural and man-made. It started this morning in Elceigo walking through the old town looking at the modern architecture (Frank Gehry, from Bilbao fame) reinventing a traditional Bodegas. We then drive to la Guardia and in the middle of the vineyards found Bodegas Ysios, a fantastical shining wave, again reinventing the bodegas. This one far more splendid with its background of mountains and surrounded by vines.
Our 3rd Bodegas was lunch. Luis Alegro was also a restaurant. For the first time in our travels we managed a meal in a vineyard. Although this was not just a meal it was a feast with a panoramic view through the large glass windows of the surrounding countryside, all finished off with a coffee on the terrace, and a few bottles of wine purchased.
The only thing left to do was to go and search out the automaton clock in la Guardia village square. We got there with 5 minutes to spare before it played the hour. The day ends with a beautiful sunset.
