Following the Music Again

Burgos, Spain

We cycled into Burgos, a city of white stone, through the impressive gateway to our first sight of the cathedral. It has been declared a world heritage site by UNESCO. We duly paid a few Euro’s to go inside and was astounded to find that the original building has been built onto and added to time and time again. Obviously the only people to afford this were the rich and religious as the many gilded altars in the new and replaced chapels got bigger and bigger. The architecture was amazing but the best bits were the old bits like some of the painted frescos.

We then found ourselves walking uphill to the castle which was the original Burgos and a fortress. The views from up there were stunning and archaeological excavation was still going on. It had a 63m deep well with a spiral staircase going around it. It was deep.

Our direction tends to be influenced by music. Our search for coffee and lunch was interrupted when we came across BBFEST, the Burgos Brass festival. So we grabbed a beer, sat on a wall and listened to the music. We even had a wee dance.
