Gaudi II

Burgos, Spain
Parking was the only thing difficult about Astorga, but that was only because the entrance was not signposted. We only drove past it twice. Gaudi’s fairy tail Episcopal Palace was magnificent. A brilliant architect who kept resigning when they tried to change his designs. The brilliance is in the detail, even down to the angels for the roof which are now in the garden because he resigned before the roof was finished, the roof design was subsequently changed. He also restored part of the Roman city wall to incorporate it into the design, so the bishop could take a morning stroll.

The Cathedral next door was also amazing, but Gaudi is our first love. Plus the audio trail is always long winded.

Next stop the chocolate museum, as Astorgia was the first place in Europe to make chocolate in the 1700’s , but made a detour to the chocolate shop so never made the tour🤣🤣🤣
