The Rain in Spain….

A Guarda, Pontevedra, Spain

…mainly all fell on our campsite last night so we thought we were going to have a wet day but it was bright and sunny with a few showers. We walked up Santa Trega mountain to find the Celtic Iron Age ruins of San Tecla, a Spanish Castro. Misty did very well up the well -made steep path. The remains of the hill fort were awesome and covered an extremely large area. There could be many more undiscovered.

We carried on upwards along the stations of the cross looking for the hermitage at the top. A brief heavy shower chased us inside, Misty included, for coffee and Spanish Empanadas, delicious, not sure what was in them but they were delicious 😀. We then found the hermitage, a beautiful little place. We sat on the top of the mountain eating bread and cheese in the sunshine.

Going down was easier, passed more hut remains, so we had a quick look at the port of A Guarda, a pretty fishing harbour which had obviously had an input of European funding. We also found an externally plain but internally a very beautiful and ornate church

All in all another good day.
