We visited Santillana del Mar today. It is neither a saint (Santo), not flat (llana) or by the sea (del mar). Other than that it was a very pretty, well maintained, touristry, medieval village. We wandered through the arches of the old church and courtyard, had coffee and seafood lunch and undertook some retail therapy, at least Ian did.

Onward and upward, literally, to the Picos de Europa, a small mountainous region of Asturias, where we relaxed in the evening sunshine.
