Dublin’s Playground
We weren’t sure what to expect, but after avoiding the €15 car park charge for motorhomes (cars €4 !!!) we were very pleasantly surprised. We chose the 9km walking route and proceeded to climb up a long staircase of over 600 railway sleeper steps. We walked along the ridge called the Spinc , and were greeted by fantastic panoramic views. The route took us over the hill and back down to the valley floor passing old lead mines and gushing torrents of waterfalls possibly due to yesterday’s rain. Misty really enjoyed the walk, tail wagging all the way 😀😀
After chips and ice cream for lunch from the vans located in the car park, we left misty sleeping and walked down to the monastic site at Glendalough. This included a cathedral, a 100 ft round tower, a lovely little church with a cobble stone roof all set in a grave yard. In this case small is very beautiful.
We followed boardwalks back to Misty and took the scenic route back to the site.
