Over the Healy

Misty kicked is out of the van this morning saying she was tired and wanted to sleep. Oh well, so we got the bikes out 😁😁. Decided to do a middle loop of the Beara cycle way starting by going over the Healy Pass. A long slow climb but the panoramic views made up for it. Briefly went into Don’s gift shop hidden away at the to of the pass and enjoyed a lovely coffee made by the man himself. A great ride down the hairpin bends and along the coast to Castletownbere. Here we stopped for lunch, seafood chowder and a fresh crab Sandwich, finished off nicely with a point of Guinness, at Breens Lobster Bar which for some strange reason did not sell lobster!! To aid digestion we walked around the harbour, the second largest fishing put in Ireland.

Back on the road past brightly coloured villages and manic signposts. Stoped for a cup of coffee at a friendly cafe which was also the petrol station, general store, post office etc.

Arrived back at the site in time to take misty for a walk before the rain started, once she had woken up!
