Kylemore Abbey

We planned a full day here and a full day we spent courtesy of gardeners world two for one😁😁. The only problem we encountered was which of the home made cakes we were going to have with our morning coffee.

Before lunch we deserted misty and headed for the buildings. The interior of the church was far more impressive than the house. It was built as a ‘a cathedral in miniature’ to commemorate the owners wife. No expense spared..

We wandered along to the ironing stone and made our wishes by throwing a stone over it backwards (wish making send to be a popular Irish pastime)

Then it was Misty’s turn along the extended woodland walk and magnificent, restored, 6 acre Victorian, walled garden. We sat outside the tea house to eat our lunch in the sunshine. By 4pm misty had had enough so we headed for the Sky Road with its panoramic views. Writing this watching the sun set over the Atlantic.
