From Amazing Grace to Orinoco Flow

Sleepy Hollows Campsite

From Amazing Grace to Orinoco Flow

We started the morning with coffee and scones at Dunree Fort, overlooking Lough Swilly, after driving over the spectacular Mamore Pass. The fort had been an important defensive site down through history as we could see as we wandered around looking at the position of the guns. Today it has more significance for is panoramic view and returning wildlife.

John Newton found inspiration at Lough Swilly to write the words of Amazing Grace after he was shipwrecked.

After a leisurely afternoon drive through Glenveagh National park we arrived at Sleepy Hollows (oh no we were not scared!!) It is in fact a lovely wee campsite next to a bluebell wood which actually did spook misty.

After a much needed shower we popped down to Leo’s tavern, the home of Enya/Clannad. Thank goodness we did not have to sing but we did have our first pint of Guinness in Ireland.
