The flat lands

Too achieve our goal of reaching the Italian lakes (northern – because we have seen lakes all over the place), we had to brave the flat, fertile and industrial plains of the river po. The best way to go this was to use the motorway as we had to cover about 170 miles before our overnight stop. Flat lands is correct after dropping out of the appenine mountains we did no see a single hill for miles. Plenty of vines, orchards, factories and even paddy fields.

We reached Mantova, which sits surrounded by artificial lakes. We immediately got our chairs out and sat in the shade as it was 28deg. Misty’s walk is getting ever later and only when the evening is cool enough. Tonight we walked around the edge of the lake looking at the city’s architecture from afar. We passed lots of unusual sculptures (were seeing a lot on this trip but they are all different and good).

PS Misty enjoyed her walk this evening she is looking a lot happier today.
