sanctuary, steps, star and sunshine

We visited 2 sanctuaries today, Michael Angelo eat your heart out. Even half way up a mountain these churches were magnificent, intricate and with fabulous painted ceilings. Maybe we were the only visitors to step inside today.

We walked a circular 10kish and must have climbed at least 10,000 steps. We followed the old trails over the ridges and down to 2 cinque terre villages. Sometimes in the mist but mostly in the sunshine. Misty was the real star of the day and we believe that she would follow us to hell and back. ( she probably thinks she already has ☺) The best part of the day for her was probably immersing herself in the streams and rock pools trying to drink them dry and invoking a water fight with a French family which of course we all joined in.

Vernazza was as pretty a place as any we have seen but again 100s of tourists so we people watched in the shade over the hottest part of the day (Misty fell asleep)
